Charlotte Loukola


I started to play the violin at the age of three in the United States with Cindy Doering. When we moved to Finland with my family when I was seven years old, I continued studying the violin in Jyväskylä. I began studying with Anatoli Melnikov as his youngest student ever. I started my violin and music studies with Merit Palas in Sibelius Academy Youth Department in Helsinki, Finland in 2012.

I have attended several violin master classes in Finland and abroad: 2015 in Poland, 2014 in Belgium (where I was the representative of Sibelius Academy in Musica Mundi chamber music master course), 2013 in Croatia and 2007 in USA. During master classes and other valuable learning opportunities I have gained valuable knowledge from Yair Kless, Maxim Vengerov, Leonid Kerbel, Gerhard Schulz, Barnabas Kelemen, Ivry Gitlis, Eyal Kless and Hagai Shaham.

In the summer 2017 I attended the Heifetz International Music Institute. There I had the opportunity to work with amazing fculty; Ilya Kaler, Nicholas Kitchen, Silvia Marcovici Elmar Oliveira, David Geber, Yeesun Kim and Kristopher Tong.

I have attended several competitions where I have been placed excellently:

  • 2017 Great Composers Competition Series, Artist of the Year, 2nd prize

  • 2017 Great Composers Competition, Best Vivaldi and Best Bach Performances, 1st prize

  • 2016 Enkor International Music Competition, 3rd prize

  • 2015 21st Century Art Competition in Lempäälä, Finland, 1st prize

  • 2014 Savshinsky International Music Competition in St. Petersburg, Russia, 3rd prize

  • 2014 Stockholm International Music Competition in Stockholm, Sweden, 3rd prize

  • 2013 Walgreens National Concerto Competition, Chicago, USA, honorable mention

I had my first own concert in The Old Church at Petäjävesi (UNESCO World Heritage landmark) concert series in Finland on October 16th in 2017. I have had soloist performances with Campus Sinfonietta Orchestra in 2016 and with Jyväskylä Symphony Orchestra in 2015.

I have been accepted into the Finnish Chamber Orchestra's Youth Academy in 2017. The training program's artistic director is Jukka-Pekka Saraste. I have played in Jean Sibelius Orchestra in 2014-2016.

I attended the Cuban-European Youth Academy in 2017. It was organized by the Academy Balthasar Neumann, Germany.

 I have had several charity concerts since 2007. I have also performed abroad in Sweden, Estonia, Russia, Scotland, Croatia, Greece, USA, Poland and Germany.
